Laser Skin Resurfacing
Dr. Jason Cooper offers laser skin resurfacing treatments using the Lumenis Ultrapulse Encore CO2 laser. Laser skin resurfacing is a type of cosmetic laser treatment that improves the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, scars, and hyperpigmentation.
At our practice, we offer laser skin resurfacing to treat:
- Sun Spots & Age Spots
- Surgical Scars
- Uneven Skin Tone
- Fine Lines & Wrinkles
How Does It Work?
Laser skin resurfacing uses pulsed light to target deep layers of the skin. Dr. Jason Cooper uses the Lumenis Ultrapulse Encore CO2 laser, which can dramatically reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, scars, age spots, sun spots, and other skin imperfections in as little as one treatment. Ablative laser treatments have the ability to increase collagen production, revealing younger looking skin. This is an extremely powerful technique that actually has the ability to erase deep wrinkles without surgery.
Speaking from Experience
“I like performing laser for many different indications. My favorite application of the laser is to improve the appearance of the aging face. I use an ablative fractional CO2 laser for resurfacing purposes in order to smooth the skin and remove fine lines and wrinkles. The laser I use can also lighten dark pigmentation spots. I find it really gratifying to use the laser to put the finishing touches on a surgical procedure. I use it like polish on a new car. Our ablative laser allows the patient’s skin to glow by removing minor blemishes, brown spots, and wrinkles. The application of laser technology in our practice has led to better results for our patients.”
Is Laser Skin Resurfacing Right for You?
Laser skin resurfacing is best used when a patient needs something stronger than a chemical peel or microdermabrasion. A good candidate for laser skin resurfacing might have sun-damaged skin with etched in lines and wrinkles. Laser skin resurfacing can also address pigmentation such as melasma, age spots, and sun spots. Additionally, a series of treatments could also improve the appearance and texture of scars. Most importantly, patients should be in good health and have realistic expectations.
What to Expect at Your Appointment
At your initial appointment, Dr. Cooper will evaluate your skin and ask you about your medical history and aesthetic goals. Since this laser is more intensive than others, many patients can achieve their preferred result after one treatment. The depth of treatment and size of treatment area will dictate the amount of downtime that you may need post treatment. Prior to treatment, Dr. Cooper will numb the treatment area with a numbing cream to reduce discomfort. Dr. Cooper also uses a Zimmer chiller during the procedure which projects cold air into the treatment area and significantly reduces any discomfort during the treatment. After the treatment, you may experience swelling and possibly scabbing as it heals. Our staff at Dr. Cooper’s practice will give you detailed instructions on how to best take care of your healing skin.
