Chemical Peel Treatment in Palm Beach & Jupiter
As we age, many individuals notice that their skin appears dull, and lacks the youthful radiance it once had. Chemical peels are popular, nonsurgical treatment options used to peel away the topmost layer of dull and dead skin cells, revealing healthy, luminous skin underneath. Common areas that chemical peels are used include the face, chest and back.
Chemical peels can be used to address a number of signs of aging and skin issues, including:
There are varying depths of peels, including light, medium, and deep. Light peels usually include those with AHAs such as glycolic acid, while medium peels usually include TCA peels. Deep peels usually include phenol peels, which are used for more severe signs of aging.
Who is a Good Candidate for a Chemical Peel?
Individuals who are looking to soften the appearance of signs of aging or sun damage nonsurgically can often benefit from a chemical peel. Ideal candidates will be in overall good health and have realistic expectations for the outcome of their treatment. A consultation at our office is the best way to determine if a chemical peel is the right treatment for you.
The Chemical Peel Treatment
A chemical peel treatment will be performed by a licensed skincare professional. A special chemical solution will be applied to the treatment area(s). During application of the peel, you may feel a slight tingling or burning sensation, depending on the depth of the peel.
Results and Downtime
After a light or medium chemical peel, no covering or ointment is needed, and downtime is minimal to none. However, following a deep chemical peel, a coat of protective ointment will be placed over the treatment area. Dressings or bandages may also be applied. Some discomfort may be experienced with deeper peels, as well as redness and swelling. Your overall recovery time will depend on the depth of your treatment.
During the first two weeks, a scab may form on the treated area in medium and deep peels. Over time, this scabbing will begin to peel off, revealing healthy skin.
