If you are looking for a non-invasive boost that will give you a refreshed, rested and youthful look to your face, injectables just might be right for you. In this modern world, quick fixes are all the rage; especially those that are quick and require little to no downtime. Most will fill lines and wrinkles in less than 30 minutes and can last from four months to over a year. Because of their quick results and non-invasive nature, injectables such as Botox and dermal fillers such as Restylane, Voluma and Juvederm are considered to be of the most popular cosmetic procedures in the world of beauty enhancement. These injectables achieve results by filling in the area under the skin, fill in wrinkles, fine lines and deep creases.
Our practice represents Dr. Jason Cooper’s vision of bringing top quality cosmetic procedures to Jupiter in South Florida. If you are considering an injectable, make sure you have a general understanding of the different types of injectables and what they can mean for you.
Different Types of Injectables
How injectables work depends on the type; while there are many different types there are two types of injectables that are most commonly used: neurotoxins and dermal fillers.
Neurotoxins
Neurotoxins such as Botox, Dysport and Xeomin are FDA-approved for cosmetic use and are safe and effective treatments for the temporary smoothing of furrows between the eyebrows, crow’s feet and forehead lines. They work because they relax the muscles of your face by blocking nerve impulses. The facial muscles are no longer able to contract, so those wrinkles are no more.
It is recommended that you get this form of treatment every four or five months, depending on your results and the youthful look you desire.
Dermal Fillers
The other type of common injectables are dermal fillers, or hyaluronic acids like Restylane, Voluma and Juvederm. These remarkable products can restore lost volume and smooth lines and wrinkles, resulting in a younger look without surgery. They give long-lasting correction for moderate to severe wrinkles, folds and sagging by injecting a liquid that is thicker than a neurotoxin deeper into the tissue of the face.
Dermal fillers are usually used to plump up wrinkles and under-eye hollows, enhance lips and give a non-invasive lift to sagging skin. When administered by a certified professional, you can anticipate results to last six months to a year.
Which Injectable is Right for You?
Upon meeting with Dr. Cooper, together you will discuss your cosmetic goals. There are several different types of fillers and injectables we carry that can improve all aspects of the face.
- Restylane – Can be used to add volume and fullness to the skin to correct moderate to severe facial winkles and folds, such as the lines from your nose to the corners of your mouth. Restylane may also be used for lip enhancement and to treat lip lines.
- Voluma – The only hyaluronic acid FDA-approved for use in cheeks, studies have shown the product to last up to 18 months.
- Juvederm – Used for filling fine lines and wrinkles, such as crow’s feet or lines around the mouth. Depending on the formula it may also be used for forehead wrinkles and moderate furrows, shaping lips and helping to restore volume to the face.
- Botox – When injected, Botox creates a more youthful appearance by relaxing muscles that create wrinkles. It is most commonly used to eliminate crow’s feet, wrinkles on the forehead and frown and laugh lines.
- Dysport –Works in about four days and also last approximately four months. Also treats crow’s feet, frown lines and lines across the forehead.
