CoolSculpting Cycle vs Treatment

Are you spending hours at the gym and following a healthy diet, but still can’t seem to get rid of those stubborn fat pockets? While you may believe that your only option is liposuction, there is now a noninvasive option available: CoolSculpting! Read on to learn more about this treatment and its process regarding cycles and treatments.

CoolSculpting: An Overview

CoolSculpting is the only FDA-cleared, non-surgical fat reduction treatment that uses controlled cooling technology to eliminate stubborn fat. It can be used in many areas of the body including a double chin, upper arms, abdomen, flanks, and inner and outer thighs to help address “problem” areas in both men and women. Plus, because there are no incisions or stitches, there is no downtime required, so you can return to your everyday routine as soon as you feel comfortable!

Cycles vs Treatments

When it comes to the difference between these two terms, cycles consist of one specific treatment area. For example, if you are treating your thighs, your right thigh will be one cycle and your left thigh will be another cycle; that is considered one treatment. Then, a month later, you would come in for your second treatment which, again, consists of those two cycles.

Does The Fat Come Back After Liposuction?

Most everyone struggles with some stubborn fat. You know, the kind that just won’t budge regardless of a healthy diet and exercise routine. When this occurs, many individuals turn to liposuction to help eliminate those stubborn pockets of fat. And while liposuction is a great option to help you achieve your body contouring goals, there is still one question that is asked often: “Does fat return after liposuction?” For the answer to this question, we must first go over the difference between fat reduction and weight loss.

Fat Reduction vs Weight Loss

First, it is important to understand how our body processes fat from food and it’s quite simple, actually. The fat that you eat in food travels through your digestive system and then to the liver. Processed fat is the energy source for your body, but when you eat too much fat, it is stored in fat cells.

While losing weight and losing fat may sound like the same thing, it is not. The number of fat cells in our bodies become a fixed number sometime in our teen years. Therefore, when we lose or gain weight, the number of fat cells do not change. Instead, the size of the fat cells fluctuates.

When we diet or lose weight, fat cells will get smaller, but the number of fat cells stays the same. When weight is gained, the fat cells get bigger. This is what causes us to gain weight.

Rather than help with weight loss, liposuction helps with fat reduction. When fat cells are removed from the body, they are gone for good. That means that they cannot migrate to another area of the body. If weight is gained after treatment, weight will not be gained in the treated area, rather, it will be distributed to other areas of the body.

The Answer Is…

So, the answer to the question is that no, fat will not come back in the treated area after liposuction. However, to ensure that you maintain a proportionate body figure and enjoy the overall results of your procedure, be sure to follow a healthy lifestyle including diet and exercise following your treatment.
