Facelift in Jupiter Island

What is a Facelift?

A facelift is a comprehensive approach to treating wrinkles and sagging skin that is caused by aging. This procedure removes excess, sagging skin and tightens underlying tissues and muscles for a more youthful appearance.

Who is a Candidate?

If you are living with sagging skin in your midface or jawline, have deep creases that extend from your nose to the corners of your mouth, have facial volume that has fallen or is displaced, sagging skin and loss of muscle tone in the lower face that can result in jowls, or creased skin on your neck, you may be able to benefit from a facelift.

The Procedure

Depending on the amount of change that you would like to see, your facelift choices include a traditional facelift, a limited incision facelift, or a neck lift. A traditional facelift includes incisions that begin at the hairline near the temples, continue around the ear, and end in the lower scalp. Fat is then sculpted or redistributed in the face, jowls, and neck, and the deeper layers of the face and muscles are lifted. Skin is then red re-draped and excess skin is removed. Another incision under the chin may be needed to improve an aging neck.

A limited incision facelift uses shorter incisions at the temples that continue around the ear. This option provides an improvement for those with less skin relaxation.

A neck lift can also be used to address sagging jowls, loose neck skin, and a double chin.

Results and Recovery

Following your facelift procedure, you may be placed in a compression garment. You must be sure to wear this compression garment during your recovery period to reduce swelling and support your new facial contours. You may feel a sensation of tightness after surgery. Any discomfort can be controlled with pain medication.

It is recommended that individuals stay sitting up as much as possible to decrease swelling. Avoid bending and lifting heavy objects for one week and avoid strenuous activity. Be sure to refrain from direct sun exposure to ensure optimal results.
